Please Say a Prayer
for Our Friend Dean Martin
By Ed Phillips
State Treasurer Dean Martin, my friend and fellow Rotarian, has been a guest on our show more than once. When I learned that his delightful wife Kerry died on Memorial Day after the birth of their first child Austin I was breathless.
As Dean sorts out the tragedy please join me in a prayer for him and their son.
I had lunch with Dean a few weeks ago and he was in his usual good spirits and delighted that he and Kerry were close to the birth of their first child. I remember telling him that his life would be changing for the better.
My friends, Dean is a good man and he adored Kerry. They were a fantastic couple together and you could tell they were a good team. They shared a love of politics.
I have known a lot of politicians of every kind since I was in the State Senate. Dean is one of the good ones. He is honest, he is hard working and he is doing a great job in his role as State Treasurer. The smart work of Dean and his staff has saved and earned our state tens of millions of dollars.
Dean has sacrificed a very successful career in his private life to serve us and for that I am grateful.
How do you explain a tragedy like this? I don't know.
What I do know is that Dean and his family are in my thoughts and prayers and if I can help him in any way I am at his service.
