Community Reaches Out to Help Out of Africa Wildlife Park

Phoenix , AZ , May 27, 2004 – Since the announcement of the eviction of Out of Africa Wildlife Park by the Fort McDowell Indian Tribe, the community has come to the rescue. Companies and individuals from the Phoenix and Verde Valley area have come in droves to help the 16-year-old wildlife park tear down, pack and move its 300+ wild by nature animals.

The May 5 th eviction notice came as a surprise to park officials, Dean and Prayeri Harrison , who now have only a few weeks left to tear down 16 acres of habitats, move all the animals, and reconstruct the park at a whole new location. Because of the sudden eviction and short amount of time to do something near to impossible, Out of Africa reached out to the community and came back with dozens of responses.

Companies and individuals from many different industries and walks of life have responded to their plight in the form of volunteering physical labor, services and contributions. Firms such as SRP, A Touch Of Boulders, Friends & Town of Camp Verde, Falcon Power, Eclipse Communications, Deutsch Assoc, Yavapai Nation Sand & Rock and many more too numerous to mention at this time.

“We are so pleased that Camp Verde , the Verde Valley and the surrounding central and northern Arizona communities have opened their hearts to us,” said Dean Harrison, park owner and president. “This is a daunting task and community support is very important. We are a team. ”
